Sunday Morning • Kurinuki Lidded Pot

£85.00

Our Sunday Morning series, when the studio light is the most beautiful, explores some more specialist ceramic techniques with a little more time and depth, whilst remaining accessible for complete beginners.

In this focused, two-hour workshop, we will be using the traditional technique of Kurinuki to form lidded vessels, or pots, from stoneware clay. Throughout the session, we will marble this stoneware together with some carefully prepared Nerikomi patterned clay, creating strikingly beautiful textures and intricate patterns on the surface of our pieces.

Kurinuki — a meditative, sculptural, and unique process of creating functional ceramics — literally means “to hollow.” With this unique and deeply satisfying technique, you will only subtract — carving your piece from a solid block of clay whilst playfully working with the two opposing forces we all hold within us: creation and destruction.

Workshop Notes

We offer this workshop once a month, on Sunday mornings evenings (10.00AM–12.00PM)

You can opt to leave your work unglazed. Otherwise your work will be glazed in our glossy transparent studio glaze and fired for you after the workshop, ready to collect around a month later.
